ABOUT ME

REBEKAH PHOENIX WISE

BASED FULL TIME IN THE HAMPTONS

I’m Rebekah, a proud Indigenous and Black womam who’s rooted in community.

The work I do is deeply personal. I come from the kinds of spaces I photograph cultural gatherings, community events, leadership meetings, celebrations, and moments that carry both history and responsibility.

In addition to my documentation work, I’m also an art photographer whose personal projects center Shinnecock life. My creative practice explores contemporary Indigenous identity, intergenerational presence, and the everyday realities of community. That artistic foundation shapes how I see. I pay attention to nuance, to gesture, to quiet moments that might otherwise be overlooked.

Photography, for me, is both documentation and stewardship.

Outside of my professional roles, I’m a cat mom, a regular at the gym who lifts heavy and runs for clarity, a podcaster, a tv watcher, and someone who feels most grounded near the water — clamming in the bay or swimming in the ocean.

Movement, rhythm, and connection shape the way I show up in the world and behind the camera.

Community isn’t a niche for me. It’s home.

And yes, this is my real name.
